Substances that pose a risk to water can have a negative impact on the environment; therefore, to protect against water or soil contamination, there is the Plant Ordinance, or the Ordinance on Plants for Handling Substances Hazardous to Water (AwSV), which sets out in detail the protection objectives of the Water Resources Act (WHG). It is often assumed that this applies only to larger businesses and facilities, but small and medium-sized enterprises must also comply with the requirements set out therein.
